Chapel Studio was approached by Mr Allen a long time parishioner of St Leonards Church Heston to create a new stained glass window to be located in the memorial on the north aisle of the church. My brief was to design a window in memory of Mr Allen's wife.
I had many conversations with Mr Allen about his wife discussing what she loved and what she had achieved in her life. He told me she loved flowers and had been the flower arranger for the church and loved vibrant colours. He also described with great pride how she had spent time with the Women's Land Army during the war and loved working outside surrounded by the countryside and wildlife.
It was also decided during conversations with Mr Allen and the Vicar that I would include depictions of St Leonard and St David. The church did not have a window dedicated to St Leonard and there was only a very small reference to him in the east window and it was felt that he should be included.
This was such a lovely project to work on and I was thrilled with the reception the worked received on the day of the dedication.
